I haven’t come up with a specific topic I would like to write my second essay on, but I think tying together Gee, Delpit and Rodriguez’s articles with the discussion of primary and secondary discourses would be interesting. Also talking about the role teachers/educators have in shaping their students secondary discourses and whether or not teachers actually do help students by doing this.
Ooo...I like the idea of designing a prompt in which students use course texts (and perhaps outside texts, as well) to talk about how teachers/educators might shape students' acquisition of secondary discourses. Great idea!
